What should I check before hiring a pool builder?
Confirm the contractor carries liability insurance and workers’ compensation and ask to see building permits or proof they will obtain them. Also check warranties, payment schedule, expected timeline, and any subcontractors who will work on the project.
How was this ranking created?
This list is based on Google reviews using a Bayesian-weighted score that balances average rating with the number of reviews, updated for 2026. The methodology favors businesses with high ratings and sufficient review volume to reduce the effect of small sample sizes.
When should I call a pool builder?
Contact builders during the planning phase well before you want construction to start so you can compare bids and schedule permits. For maintenance or repair work, reach out at the first sign of mechanical trouble or prior to peak swimming season to avoid delays.
